Affected by the new coronavirus pandemic, the national ornamental stone industry recorded a 13.48% drop in export revenues in the first four months of the year, compared to last year. Next Wednesday, June 3rd, the Brazilian Center for Ornamental Stones Exporters (Centrorochas) and Sindirochas (Union of Ornamental Stones, Lime and Limestone Industries of the State of Espírito Santo) will hold a webinar with the president of Apex- Brazil, Sergio Segovia.
The event will address the current scenario of ornamental stone exports in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and point out prospects for the segment in the coming months. The purpose of the online conference is to contribute to the production planning of Brazilian exporters. Participants will have a direct channel with the moderator to send questions throughout the event.
In time, Espírito Santo stands out in the stone sector for being the largest producer and the main exporter of slabs and blocks in Brazil, holding the largest processing park and the largest production center of capital goods for the segment. In 2019, the State accounted for 81.7% of total revenue and 76.2% of the total physical volume of Brazilian stone exports. Adding to the numbers from Ceará and Minas Gerais, the three states together are responsible for around 95% of ornamental stone exports from Brazil.
The event will bring together exporters from all over the country, as well as sector entities from all regions. The presidents of Centrorochas, Frederico Robison, and Sindirochas, Tales Machado, will also participate in the videoconference.
