Centrorochas Council debates sectorial certification and importance of the national challenge for students of architecture and urbanism

With the aim of spreading the application of natural and ornamental stones from Brazil in the architecture sector and contributing to the improvement of the training of new professionals, Centrorochas, Wonasa and Vitoria Stone Fair will launch the Natural Stone Challenge – 1st Brazilian Academic Award of Architecture. The subject was one of the themes of the Fiscal Deliberative Council meeting, held on August 8th.

Under the command of the president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, the deputy, Fabio Cruz, and the executive director, Celmo de Freitas, the group widely debated the importance of this action, which has the institutional support of the Brazilian Association of Teaching of Architecture and Urbanism (ABEA ) and the Brazilian Association of Architectural Offices (AsBEA).

The contest will be launched at an event for guests on the 16th of August at the Hotel Grand Mercure São Paulo Ibirapuera. At the opportunity, representatives of the filmmakers and supporters, coordinators of architecture and urbanism courses, architects and the specialized press will gather. The president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, highlighted the importance of the theme for the sector. “This approximation with the specifiers is an old wish of the segment. It is very good to see that the entity is managing to meet the aspirations of businessmen”, he said. “The objective is that, after its launch, the Challenge reaches architecture and urbanism courses across the country, reaching around 80,000 students in these areas”, added the vice-president of the entity, Fabio Cruz.

Sector Certification / EPD

In general, the EPD (Environmental Product Declarations), an acronym that in Portuguese means Environmental Product Declaration (DAP), is an independently produced and audited document that summarizes information about the environmental life cycle and the impacts of products. With an eye on the evolution of the world construction market, Centrorochas has been studying the subject and seeking a sectorial solution. On the agenda at the board meeting, the importance and urgency of the topic was exalted by the entire group, as well as the need to study the three main products in the national segment: marble, granite and quartzite. Actions will be implemented for the effective evolution of the theme.
