Representing Centrorochas, Giovanni Francischetto and the president of Sindirochas [Employers’ Association of Natural Stone, Lime and Limestone Companies], Ed Martins, met with Senator Fabiano Contarato on August 4, in the city of Vitória. They discussed demands from the stone industry.
During the meeting, some topics that interest the stone segment in the state of Espírito Santo and throughout Brazil were addressed. Among them, the issue of deadlines for complying with drawback acts and the update of the Resolution that deals with the transport of stones (today limited to 58.5 of the GCWR), put forward by Contran [the National Traffic Council].
The tax reform and its impacts on the production process was another subject they debated. Despite the current uncertainty, experts identify possible negative impacts as a result of risks entailed by raising the tax burden and other effects.
The leaders also took the opportunity to once again invite the senator to participate in the 34th edition of Cachoeiro Stone Fair, the largest business showcase in Latin America in the stone industry, which takes place from August 22 to 25, in the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim.
