The president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, was one of the panelists invited to the meeting “Espírito Santo: the prospects and opportunities of the relationship with Portugal” held this Monday, September 13, at Palácio Anchieta, in Vitória. On that occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State of Espírito Santo and the Portuguese Chamber of Business in the State, with the aim of discussing and articulating relevant topics, in addition to projects of mutual interest. The event was attended by the State Governor, Renato Casagrande, and the Portuguese ambassador to Brazil, Luís Faro Ramos.
Mediated by the undersecretary for Investment Attraction, Gabriel Feitosa, the business panel also had the participation of the president of EDP, João Marques da Cruz, and the CEO of Borana, Jorge Aguiar.
The international market set the tone for the conversation. Right at the beginning, the president of Centrorochas and vice president of Sindirochas, Tales Machado, highlighted that the Espírito Santo-Portugal agreement opens up opportunities for forming strategic and qualified partnerships that will contribute to the evolution of the stone sector as a whole and of the companies individually. “In 2020, Brazil was the eighth largest supplier of ornamental stones to Portugal, with only 1.91%. Our exports are still very small, there is room for growth. There is homework to be done, improving processes and internal structure so that we can better enjoy the moment with more longevity. The partnership recently signed between Centrorochas and Apex-Brasil, for the execution of the sectoral project, will certainly contribute to this process. The national agency shares with the sector strategic commercial intelligence information that enables previous studies for insertion in new markets and maintenance of existing ones. The results are not always immediate, but I believe that we can greatly increase our participation in this trade balance”, he declared.
