  • Forum in Espírito Santo Highlights Sustainable Solutions with Natural Stone Sector Participation

Event brings together authorities, experts, and the productive sector to discuss the environment, public health, and sustainability practices.

On June 5 and 6, the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim will host the 1st Southern Regional Forum on Health, Environment, and Sustainability, an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration among various sectors of society to develop sustainable solutions for regional development. The Brazilian Natural Stone Association (Centrorochas) will take part in the event, represented by its superintendent, Giovanni Francischetto, who will speak on June 6.

With the theme “Sustainability in Practice: How Natural Stone Companies Are Adapting,” Giovanni will present the initiatives, challenges, and progress made by the sector in adopting environmentally responsible practices—from quarrying to stone processing—an industry that plays a key role in Espírito Santo’s economy.

Organized by the Regional Health Office of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in partnership with the Municipal Environmental Departments of Cachoeiro and Vargem Alta, the event will bring together government representatives, experts, researchers, business leaders, and civil society organizations. The agenda includes roundtables, lectures, cultural presentations, and discussions on topics such as climate change, environmental justice, public health surveillance, and technological innovation.

In addition to Centrorochas’ participation, June 6 will feature presentations from researchers at FDCI and UFES, representatives from the Health Department, and a performance by Camerata Rochativa, a cultural initiative that promotes regional identity and the arts through music.
