Former president of Centrorochas, José Antônio Guidoni, received homage during the opening ceremony of Vitoria Stone Fair | Marmomac Latin America 2020, held this Tuesday, February 11th. The tribute plaque was presented by the president of Sindirochas, Tales Machado, and by the current president of the Brazilian Center for Ornamental Stones Exporters, Frederico Robison, in recognition of their work that culminated in the enactment of the law that included the exploitation of ornamental and cladding stones and calcium and magnesium carbonates under the licensing or authorization and concession regime, enacted in January of this year.

Also honored were ex-senator Ricardo Ferraço, Federal Deputy, licensed, Paulo Foleto, Federal Deputy, Greyce de Queiroz Elias, Federal Deputy, Evair de Melo and Federal Deputy and Coordinator of the Rocks Sector of the Parliamentary Mining Front , Josias da Vitoria. To all, Sindirochas reinforced its gratitude for the support and commitment in the Federal Chamber for the Project’s processing.

With the presence of 240 brands, the opening ceremony of the fair consolidated the so-called third wave of exports – the first was blocks; the second, of plates; and now it is adding value to materials through technology. The ceremony was attended by important businessmen, politicians and authorities, such as the deputy governor of the State, Jaqueline Moraes; the president of the Brazilian Ornamental Stone Industry Association (Abirochas), Reinaldo Dantas; state secretaries; director of the National Mining Agency (ANM), Débora Toci Puccini, and others.

The president of Sindirochas, Tales Machado, reinforced the sector’s growth in the last year, which surpassed the mark of US$ 1 billion in exports and highlighted the current moment. “The modernization and the constant launch of materials made an expansion to new markets, and we reached the so-called third wave, in which the stones are presented with a focus on adding value. The Vitoria Stone Fair has a significant participation in the expansion of the sector around the world, as it is an integrating event that provides several links of opportunities in the productive sector, consumption and also in the specification of products, striving for the appreciation of the applicability of natural stones”.

The president of Abirochas spoke about the challenges of the segment, which include infrastructure, bureaucracy and legislation. “The 49th edition of a fair is in itself a reflection of the success of a business sector, which takes place at a time of expectation of the resumption of growth in the country, but also of challenges. We are in what we call the third wave of exports, which is to help the Brazilian export industry enter the construction and architecture market in the United States, inserting Brazil in the final product market”.

Proof of this new moment is the exhibition Brazilian Stones Original Design, by Abirochas in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), which takes place in an exclusive space at Vitoria Stone Fair with the presentation of works by 21 designers and architects and curated by Vivian Coser.

The president of the Federation of Industries of the State (Findes), Leonardo de Castro, spoke of the importance of the activity, which employs over 25,000 people, and of the entity’s support for business development.

The deputy governor highlighted the growth of mining in the state and placed the government as an ally to discuss taxes, environment, infrastructure and dialogue with the federal government. She also highlighted the involvement of the business class, architects and designers in strengthening the event.

Decree

On the occasion, the State Government also signed a decree extending until June 9, 2020 the payment of ICMS on operations carried out during the fair. The document was signed by the Secretary of Finance, Rogélio Amorim, and by the vice-governor Jaqueline Moraes.
