State posts the highest revenue in its history in the sector and accounts for nearly 80% of Brazilian natural stone exports. Serra and Cachoeiro de Itapemirim together exceed US$ 730 million in exports, concentrating about 64% of Espírito Santo’s revenue.
The year 2025 will be remembered as a turning point for Brazil’s natural stone industry, with Espírito Santo maintaining its leadership and playing a central role in this outcome. Of the US$ 1.48 billion exported by Brazil, US$ 1.16 billion originated in Espírito Santo, equivalent to a 78.5% national share, consolidating the state as the country’s leading export hub, according to data from the Brazilian Natural Stone Association (Centrorochas). Minas Gerais (9.1%) and Ceará (7.4%) rank next.
The figure represents a 12.2% increase compared to 2024 and marks the highest revenue ever recorded by Espírito Santo in the sector, even in a year marked by challenges in international trade, such as the imposition of additional tariffs by the United States. The result is largely associated with the robustness of Espírito Santo’s productive base, which concentrates extraction and processing activities, as well as the ability of local companies to adapt to different markets and demand profiles.
Within the product mix exported by Espírito Santo, quartzites assumed an even more strategic role in 2025, with exports totaling US$ 703.3 million (+32.5%), offsetting the decline observed in materials such as granite (-10.1%) and marble (-7.0%). This movement reflects both shifts in international demand and commercial adjustments prompted by the new tariff environment, highlighting the adaptability of the state’s industry.
“The figures impressed us, especially because they were achieved in a challenging year marked by the tariff hikes, which caused significant declines in exports of granite, marble, and slate. For companies focused exclusively on extracting these products, the year was marked by contraction. This movement, however, ended up being offset by the advance of other materials, such as quartzites, which performed very positively and helped sustain the sector’s overall results,” analyzes Tales Machado, president of Centrorochas.
The United States remained the main destination for Espírito Santo’s exports, with purchases totaling US$ 744.2 million (+10.7%), keeping the state strongly connected to the world’s largest consumer market. China (+3.8%), Mexico (+3.0%), Italy (+9.6%), Canada (+26.7%), and Spain (+81.6%) complete the list of main destinations, all posting growth in imports—reinforcing market diversification and the international competitiveness of Espírito Santo’s companies.
Serra Leads; Cachoeiro Maintains Export Strength
Serra and Cachoeiro de Itapemirim accounted for the largest share of Espírito Santo’s exports and retained leadership in the ranking of top exporting municipalities. Serra represented 33.4% of the exported value, with US$ 381.7 million, while Cachoeiro de Itapemirim totaled US$ 355.6 million, equivalent to 31.1%. Both posted growth close to 20% compared to the previous year.
Beyond these established hubs, other municipalities in Espírito Santo stood out for their pace of expansion. Cariacica recorded a 39.3% increase in exports, reflecting gains in both volume and average price, while Castelo (+29.8%) and Atílio Vivacqua (+23.8%) also posted growth above the state average.
