At the invitation of the Mineral Technology Center (Cetem), the president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, participated this Monday, August 23, in an agenda with the Governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, in Vitória. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen relations between the federal agency and the government of Espírito Santo and discuss projects that provide for the use of FIBRO (Fino do Beneficiamento de Pedras Ornamentais). The term is the name established for the waste produced by industries in the sector.
Alternatives so that FIBRO can be used in a standardized way, and not just in exceptional cases, are under study. Among them, a project is under development in partnership with FAPES, UFES and IFES, following a request from Sindirochas to Cetem, through the NRES (Regional Nucleus in Espírito Santo). The study provides for the development of standards for the use of FIBRO’s as a raw material in the manufacture of other products, such as the manufacture of red ceramics and concrete artifacts. After updating the status of the project, which is awaiting evaluation by IEMA, Governor Casagrande contacted the Secretary of the Environment to highlight the importance of the topic.
Participating virtually, the director of Cetem, Silvia França, presented the activities carried out by the federal agency in Espírito Santo. Among them, she highlighted the elaboration of drawback reports and technological characterization tests. The technological center has already served around 200 companies in Espírito Santo. Silvia would have been present at the meeting, but the flight she was on returned to Rio de Janeiro, after weather problems, to disembark in Vitória. The substitute coordinator of the Cetem Regional Center in Espírito Santo, Leonardo Lyrio, participated in the agenda alongside the president of Centrorochas.
Satisfied with the actions presented, Governor Casagrande made himself available to collaborate with the federal agency’s projects that are very close to the demands of the State, mainly in the area of waste, technological development and innovation.Alternatives so that FIBRO can be used in a standardized way, and not just in exceptional cases, are under study.
