The Government of Espírito Santo authorizes renovation and expansion of Cachoeiro Airport

On Wednesday (March 27), the governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, signed a Service Order to begin the renovation and expansion of Raimundo Andrade Airport, located in the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the southern part of the state. With a total investment of approximately R$ 77 million, the agreement begins with the conception of the basic and executive projects, followed by the modernization works at the Airport.

The works include adapting to airport security regulations, renewing runway signs, expanding and renovating the aircraft apron, and renovating the passenger terminal for executive aviation, in addition to building a new terminal for commercial aviation.

This initiative aims to provide modern, safe infrastructure to all users, including entrepreneurs in the national natural stone sector, represented at the event by the president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, and the former president of the association, Frederico Robison. The ceremony was also attended by several political and business representatives, such as the vice-president of Sindirochas in the Southern region, Eutemar Venturim, who praised the transformative potential of these works for the region.

During the event, Tales Machado emphasized the importance of the stone sector for the economy in Espírito Santo and how this government initiative is crucial for its development. “The stone industry is heavily concentrated in Espírito Santo and even more so in the southern region of the state. Although 80% of stone sales are exported through ports in Espírito Santo, extraction is carried out throughout almost the entire Brazilian territory, with the participation of Espírito Santo, and most of these places do not have commercial flights, making private flights necessary. This reflects the number of small shared aircraft in Cachoeiro (there are more than 35) and also demonstrates the need for the airport,” he explained.

The vice-governor and Secretary for Development of the state, Ricardo Ferraço, highlighted that the investment is another commitment that becomes a reality. “We will soon have a new structure, just as happened at Linhares Airport, capable of operating commercial lines, business aviation, cargo transport, and medical flights with complete efficiency and safety. Espírito Santo is a large importer of aircraft, and this new structure may become the basis for the nationalization of planes and helicopters. A new business that will boost the local economy and raise dividends for the city and the entire region,” he highlighted.

The project includes the installation of airport visual aids, such as the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), which will make landing operations safer. The State Government also plans to build a new paved, illuminated access to the Airport, making it more accessible for passengers and visitors. The project and construction work are expected to last 24 months.
