Due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in China, the Organizing Committee of the China Xiamen International Stone Fair released a statement informing about the postponement of the 20th edition of the fair. As the letter informs, for the health and safety of all participants, the event has been postponed to June 6th to 9th of this year.

Initially, the fair would take place between the 16th and 19th of March. The measure is part of the measures taken based on the current situation of prevention and control against the spread of the coronavirus.

About the coronavirus (*)

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.

Signs of infection: Symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath have been identified. In more severe cases, there is a record of pneumonia, kidney failure and severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Prevention: Standard recommendations to prevent the spread of infection include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, cooking meat and eggs thoroughly. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
