  • Webinar on port operations gathers around 160 participants

The webinar “Scenarios and perspectives in port operations”, held by Centrorochas and Sindirochas, this Thursday, April 22, had a massive participation of ornamental stone exporters from Espírito Santo, bringing together about 160 participants.

Focused on guiding companies in the segment about the logistical challenges they are currently facing, the event brought together representatives from Login-TVV and MSC to clarify the efforts being made in the search for normalcy or to minimize problems, in addition to pointing out expectations for the future.

At the opening, the vice-president of Centrorochas, Fabio Cruz, highlighted the importance of the meeting. “This approach to debate and try to put everyone on the same page is very important for everyone involved in the stone export chain”, he pointed out. The president of Sindirochas, Tales Machado, thanked Login-TVV and MSC for their willingness to dialogue throughout the process and their attention to the actions being developed. “As entities, we will always act in the search for solutions, as well as in the defense of the interests of our associates”, he said.

MSC commercial director, Laurent Vandervoo, participated in the event alongside line and capacity director, João Neto, and commercial manager, Samanta Lazarini. “The stone sector is of enormous importance to our business. Occasionally, we had some issues that led to bottlenecks in shipments, but MSC is extremely involved and working hard, together with TVV and other actors, to try to get back to normal as soon as possible,” said Vandervoo. As one of the planned actions to minimize operational impacts, the shipowner decided to change the BTP service from Santos to Rio de Janeiro, as first announced by director João Neto. “We will still make the formal communication, but I can already say that, starting in June, we will make this change and this will save time in operations, due to the shorter distance from Vitória to Rio, and avoid cargo congestion, as the port the new destination has less traffic than Santos”, he explained.

In his presentation, Login-TVV’s director of terminals, Ilson Hulle, highlighted the actions outlined to generate operating capacity in the system in the short, medium and long term. “Right now, we are going through some unplanned circumstances, but we have planned actions and others already implemented”, he pointed out. Among them is authorization for night maneuvers, for ships of up to 220 meters, which should take place by May. With this release, there will be an average gain of 7 hours per stopover. In addition, the Codesa privatization process must go through the auction to choose the management model, in November. “We have closely monitored all procedures and we believe that opportunities may arise such as increased storage capacity, new container berths and a total draft of 12.5m”, he detailed.

Login-TVV’s commercial manager, Pedro Benevides, also participated in the webinar which was mediated by the executive director of Centrorochas e Sindirochas, Celmo de Freitas.
