  • AGU and Centrorochas Advance Dialogue on Legal Certainty and Mining

The Brazilian Natural Stone Association (Centrorochas) participated this Wednesday (21) in a meeting with the Office of the Attorney General of Brazil (AGU), in Brasília, to discuss avenues for cooperation aimed at advancing agendas related to mining and strengthening legal certainty for the productive sector, especially the possibility of establishing a settlement program for judicial proceedings involving mining activities.

The meeting is part of a broader set of institutional efforts being carried out by the sector around strategic issues for the Brazilian mining industry, also supported by the former Governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, who has acted as an important interlocutor in discussions related to competitiveness and the development of productive activities.

During the meeting, participants discussed possibilities for jointly developing actions and mechanisms that may contribute to more efficient solutions for issues related to mining activities, within an environment of technical and institutional dialogue.

“We noticed a very important attitude of openness and willingness to listen on the part of AGU. The productive sector needs exactly this kind of environment to move forward with solutions that bring greater predictability,” said Tales Machado, president of Centrorochas, who attended the meeting alongside superintendent Giovanni Francischetto and legal advisor for environmental matters, Victor Athayde.
