Natural stone sector brings strategic agendas to the vice president of Brazil in an official meeting in Brasília

An institutional meeting led by Centrorochas, Sindirochas, and Marmomac Brazil reinforces the economic importance of the sector and presented key priorities to the federal government.

The Brazilian natural stone sector was in Brasília on November 4th to present strategic demands in an official meeting with the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin. The agenda was coordinated by the Brazilian Natural Stone Association (Centrorochas), the Espírito Santo Ornamental Stones, Lime, and Limestone Industries Union (Sindirochas), and Marmomac Brazil, with the support of federal deputies Evair de Melo (ES) and Danilo Forte (CE).

Led by Centrorochas President Tales Machado, Sindirochas President Bismark Bachiete, and Milanez & Milaneze CEO Flávia Milaneze, the meeting focused on strengthening the sector’s competitiveness, addressing points such as:

• The negative impact of the additional tariff imposed by the United States, the main market for Brazilian natural stone exports;
• The need to modernize road transport legislation for special cargo, such as stone;
• The obstacles faced by new mining ventures in the state of Ceará, which limit the region’s geological potential;
• An invitation for the Vice President to officially open Marmomac Brazil, to be held on February 24, 2026, in São Paulo, an invitation promptly accepted by Alckmin.

The Vice President welcomed the discussion with attention, reaffirmed the sector’s economic and strategic relevance, and expressed his commitment to helping overcome the challenges presented.

The meeting was also attended by Centrorochas Parliamentary Advisor Mirian Vaz, Executive Superintendent Giovanni Francischetto, Sindirochas Executive Officer Celmo de Freitas, and Environmental Legal Advisor for both entities, Victor Athayde.
