  • Mission to Australia Reinforces Brazil’s Strategy to Expand Exports to the Country

An Initiative of the It’s Natural Program strengthens trade relations and positions Brazil as a leader in geological quality and diversity in the sector.

Following the presentation of the Market Study about Australia, held in September and fully made available to companies supported by the It’s Natural – Brazilian Natural Stone project, a Prospective Mission to the country was conducted in November. This initiative aimed to strengthen commercial ties and identify strategic opportunities for Brazilian natural stones. The Brazilian stone sector was represented by the project manager, Jessica Machado.

The action is part of the It’s Natural program, developed through a partnership between the Brazilian Center of Ornamental Stone Exporters (Centrorochas) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). The program is focused on encouraging exports and aims to establish Brazil as a global leader in quality, innovation, and geological diversity in the natural stone sector.

Promising Trade Partnerships

The first visit was to Cinajus, a small distributor specializing in natural stones for flooring and cladding. Already a Brazil’s client, the company highlighted its focus on cut materials and showed great interest in expanding its purchases, making the meeting extremely productive. Its market centers on cut stones for outdoor areas.

The second destination was Avant Stone, a renowned distributor of natural and engineered stone slabs located in Gladesville, just 20 minutes from Sydney. With a strong relationship with Brazilian suppliers, the company confirmed its participation in Marmomac Brazil, with plans already set for a trip in February 2025, including visits to marble quarries in southern Brazil. During the meeting, logistical challenges such as shipping delays to Australia were discussed, emphasizing the need for joint solutions to optimize processes.

The visit to Gitani Stone revealed a company with a complete business model, combining a showroom, slab selection, and project production. Known for high-end materials and expertise in quartzites, the company emphasized the growing interest in Brazilian natural stones in Australia’s premium market.

Additionally, Centrorochas explored the project specification segment, visiting companies like Surface Gallery and Made by Alas. Both shared positive experiences with Brazilian stones already used in projects, highlighting the importance of sending samples to facilitate future specifications. They also expressed optimism regarding the expected high demand in 2025, partially driven by new Australian legislation restricting the use of engineered stones.

The mission concluded with visits to Lux Marble and Marble Plus, two leading names in natural stones in the Australian market. Both highlighted their interest in strengthening ties with Brazil and mentioned recent purchases of materials such as Taj Mahal quartzite and green quartzites, which are highly popular in the country.
