  • Largest supplier of dimension stones to the USA will bring together 72 companies at a local fair

Thousands of kilometers separate Brazil from the United States, but at the same time, the two countries have something in common that has kept them united for decades: the trade in ornamental stones. From April 5th to 8th, 72 Brazilian exporters of products such as quartzite, marble and granite will be at Coverings 2022, the largest and most traditional North American fair in the covering sector, which will take place in Las Vegas.

During the four days of the event, visitors will have access to the Brazilian Pavilion, which will house small, medium and large companies in a total area of 3,456 m² (approximately 32,000 sqft). In the space equivalent to about seven semi-Olympic swimming pools, green and yellow companies will be gathered that will have a subsidy from It’s Natural – Brazilian Natural Stone, a program to support ornamental stone exports maintained by the Brazilian Center of Ornamental Stone Exporters (Centrorochas) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, assesses that the moment is positive for exports, given the increase registered by the segment in 2021. According to data from the national sector entity, last year Brazilian exports totaled US$1.34 billion and hit growth of 35.5% compared to 2020. “We are the largest and most important supplier of sheets to the US, and we want to become the main partner in large projects and in the supply of finished products: we have the quality, diversity and competence for this ”, he pointed out. The United States appears in the lead as the largest consumer of Brazilian ornamental stones, representing 62.7% of all our exports. China (11.5%) and Italy (6.5%) occupy the following positions.

By tradition, the American market is ahead in the consumption of slabs and finished products, with the use of Brazilian stones in projects of the most diverse sizes. It’s Natural manager, Rogério Ribeiro, explains the mutual interest between the two economies. “Brazilian businessmen are looking forward to returning to the United States, since there was no fair in 2020 and in 2021 we had only one institutional stand, given the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Brazil has a lot to offer. The country is a world leader in geological diversity and has more than 1,200 varieties of products,” he explains.
